Three updates on training in the coming month (please read these carefully):
Lectures continue on Tuesday 5 November with the start of the Club Diver (D**) syllabus. These lectures are for both new members *and* returning members who were new trainees last year.
Just for the sake of completeness, here’s the lecture schedule: http://www.uccsubaqua.com/2013/09/2013-lecture-schedule/
Scuba training, NMCI: 17 November 2013
We’ll be heading to the National Maritime College of Ireland in Ringaskiddy on 17 November 2013 for a full day of scuba training. The NMCI has a deep pool that is better for scuba than the Mardyke Arena. Attendance is not compulsory, but it’s possible to complete the pool-based scuba training in a single day at the NMCI, whereas doing it in the Mardyke has to be spread over several weeks.
You should expect to be in Ringaskiddy from 9.30 until 17.00, so you need to be available for the whole day. Places are somewhat limited by the number of available instructors, so I (Séamus) need to hear from you as soon as possible that you’re available. I also need to know whether you can get yourself to Ringaskiddy or you will need a lift. Emails to firstname.lastname@example.org as usual.
Snorkelling days out, November/December 2013
As (I hope!) you all know by now, you need to log several snorkels in open water before you can get your certification. For those of you who aren’t going to be coming down to Baltimore next weekend, we’re sorting out day trips to snorkelling locations closer to Cork city. I’ll need to confirm that I have instructors and helpers for the following dates, but FYI, we’re intending to organise something for:
- 16 November
- either 23 or 24 Nov (to be decided)
- either 30 Nov or 1 Dec (again TBD)
- either 7 or 8 Dec (TBD)
